Jen is an established theatre director, producer, and digital film director, based on the Wirral in the UK. Jen has a regional, national and international portfolio of work that has played across the globe including Liverpool, Hull, Manchester, Dundee, London’s West End, Oporto, Lisbon, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, Serbia, Leeuwarden, Croatia, US, and Australia.

Jen is passionate about creating theatre, film, events, and installations that are visually exciting, original, entertaining, bold & meaningful; crossing boundaries to reflect diverse 21st century audiences in the work that she produces.

Jen’s work encompasses work for theatre, film, site specific, multimedia, immersive performance, song, and adaptation Working across subsidized, commercial and community sectors’ Jen is recognised for creating -unique, innovative, and ground-breaking work. Her digital film adaptation of Truth to Power Café, shot at London’s Conway Hall, was a finalist in the ONCOM awards: 2021 Innovation category.

Jen is founder and director of the Liverpool based Cut To The Chase productions. A company that brings together recognised creatives to make collaborative and unique work; although the line-up changes frequently the work is always directed by Jen Heyes. Their most recent HEDDA (after Ibsen) brings together iconic avant gardist David Hoyle, Jen Heyes, and composer Tom Parkinson for the making of this digital theatre production shot at London’s, Soho Theatre.

As the associate director of London Artists Projects, Jen has developed and directed several works for the company including their play Spider Love and the hugely acclaimed live; regional, national and international touring show Truth To Power Café Created by Jeremy Goldstein, written and performed by Jeremy with Henry Woolf. The values within Café link directly with one of the core values of Jen’s work; combining professional arts with community arts in what she believes is a vital force for social renewal. The live show has been performed 39 times in 6 countries in 5 languages involving 400 participants.

Jen’s freelance commissions includes directing and making work for : Opera North, Young Tate with Punchdrunk Enrichment, London Artists Projects, Culture Liverpool, Liverpool Everyman, Unity Theatre, HUB, LLT, Peta Lily, B7 Media, North West Playwrights, MDI and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, HUB, UNESCO, Stoke European City of Sport.
